Although Simon has only lived in Shipton for a few months, he knows the Cotswolds well having been a member of the Cotswolds Conservation Board (now Cotswolds National Landscape) and founder/trustee of Friends of the Cotswolds. As a former solicitor he specialised in local government and housing for which he was awarded a CBE in 1991 for his political work in that area.
